Wax crayons are a classroom and home staple for colouring, drawing and early creative development, and Welkom Business Machines stocks wax crayons from Faber-Castell, Staedtler, Monami and Pritt in standard, jumbo and retractable formats.

Standard wax crayons come in packs from 9 through to 24 colours, suited to general school use and everyday colouring at home. Jumbo crayons, like our Staedtler Noris and Pritt Mum Boya ranges, have a thicker barrel that's easier for younger children to grip, reducing breakage and making them a common choice for foundation phase classrooms.

Retractable vs standard crayons — retractable wax crayons, like our Monami and Faber-Castell 12-colour sets, use a twist-up barrel that keeps the crayon clean and prevents the tip from snapping under pressure, a useful feature for younger learners still developing fine motor control. Standard crayons are more affordable and suit classrooms going through larger volumes regularly.
