Most drawing books use a slightly heavier paper than a standard exercise book, since drawing paper needs to handle pencil, crayon and sometimes light watercolour washes without the page buckling or tearing. Books in the 100gsm and up range, like our Visual Jotter and Mixed Media sketch books, are built specifically to handle wetter media without warping.

Tissue interleaved vs plain — some drawing books include a tissue sheet between pages to stop pencil or charcoal smudging onto the facing page when the book is closed.
