A cash sale book is for money coming in — a quick, duplicate record of a sale paid for in cash on the spot, without the detail of a full tax invoice. It's the right tool for market stalls, small retail counters, and any business doing fast, low-value cash transactions where writing a full invoice for every sale would slow things down.

A petty cash voucher book is the opposite direction — it's for recording small amounts of cash paid out of your till or petty cash box, for things like tea and coffee supplies, parking, or small ad hoc purchases. Keeping these vouchers means your petty cash float can be reconciled properly at month-end, since every payment out has a written record with a reason and a signature.

Why keep both separate? Mixing cash sales and petty cash payments in one book makes your books harder to reconcile, since money coming in and money going out tell two very different stories about your cash position.
