Collection: Pencil Leads

Mechanical pencil leads are the easiest way to keep a clutch pencil or mechanical pencil working without replacing the whole pencil. Welkom Business Machines stocks pencil leads in HB, 2B and other common grades, in standard 0.5mm and 0.7mm diameters from established stationery brands.

A mechanical pencil holds a thin strip of graphite that advances as you write, and refilling it is far cheaper over time than buying disposable pencils repeatedly. Lead tubes typically contain 10 to 12 individual leads, enough for weeks or months of regular writing depending on use.

Choosing the right grade — HB is the standard, all-purpose grade for everyday writing and is what most mechanical pencils ship with by default. 2B is softer and darker, often preferred for sketching, technical drawing, or learners who write with a lighter hand. Always check the diameter printed on your pencil (usually 0.5mm or 0.7mm) before buying leads, since the wrong diameter won't fit.
